FEATURED | Interview with the Founder

“The future of mobile is the future of everything.” - Matt Galligan, Co-founder of Circa

Bernard Boodeea is a geek at heart. As a young man, he dived into the world of software development with gusto. He opened his own software company in 2003 to build and manage software for financial institutions like Visa Inc, and Macquarie Bank in Singapore. After his move to Australia, he worked on projects for Australian Business giants like Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Telstra, and Westpac. And when challenged by a problem so deeply personal, he built software as a resolve and a way to cope.

With more than 20 years of experience in software development, Bernard now shares the belief that mobile is the future. He hopes to build an app that can help people cope with the rapid changes brought about by tech by tapping into the innovative solutions of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Our app experts at Download Astro ask Bernard about his current pursuit and how he handles the app's development process.

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

I work with a team and the most challenging part is certainly putting all the ideas together while also keeping it coherent and true to our vision.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

TaskSpur is actually an advanced iteration of an app called Lifetime PA which I built 10 years ago which I used to manage all my goals in one place.

How long have you been working on this app?

I have personally been working on this app for 10 years now.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

The need to have one place to track and manage life's big goals: personal, professional, health, and financial.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

TaskSpur is more than just a task or goal management app. It is powered by an artificial intelligence engine that learns from the users' behavior and progressively becomes better at helping them organize their lives. With automation, the user can just focus on create goals, breaking them down in tasks, and just work on the tasks. The app will automatically move your tasks from the plan to focus mode. Clean up your focus mode by moving your completed tasks to archive mode automatically. Everyday the users will be guided on where they are falling behind and what is the most important to focus first. In other similar apps, the users have a lot of heavy lifting to keep their tasks organized while in TaskSpur, the user is being trained to have an Agile mindset to focus on what is most important for them fast and understand that it is OK to not work on non-important tasks. The AI is fun to use and you can also talk to listen a normal person. In the long run, the users will not only save time and reduce stress but also learn new things and save money.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

In the next release, we're rolling out a calendar feature to make it easier for users to view their tasks on a daily basis. We are also looking at integrating a multiple users feature to help people coordinate and achieve goals together. A shop Module is underway where merchants can promote their businesses on the app and where users can directly transact with businesses that will help them towards achieving their goals. And finally, an eLearning portal is also on the horizon. We never stop learning and if we want to get better in life we need to have access to amazing courses. All these will be held together by the in-app intelligent assistant called Ari who will make smart and efficient recommendations based on the user's needs. Our rewards system will also be buffed in the future to give users a more robust incentive to use the app and in turn, help it make their lives better.

Assuming new users of your app are reading this page. What do you want to ask them to do (contact you about X, Share the app, etc.)?
